Shrewsbury Lieutenant Named Chief in NH Town
Lt. Dan Sklut will assume his new position Jan. 16.

After 33 years serving the , Lt. Dan Sklut has accepted the position of police chief in Dunbarton, NH.
"I started out as a special officer and then became a full-time police officer in town," Sklut said. "There are really great people in Shrewsbury and it is a great place to raise your kids."
Sklut and his wife have been married for 28 years and raised their kids in town. "Through the years, outside of work, the only organization I had time for was the Shrewsbury Little League," he said. "My son was always into sports and we met some really great people through the organization."

As for the future, Sklut and his wife are looking forward to his new post in New Hampshire. "We had talked about retiring and moving to a more rural area like New Hampshire," he said. "And when this position became available, it was meant to be. We're even thinking of finding a place with a small farm."
He plans to rent a property in New Hampshire and get to know the community before buying. He said he hopes to keep his residence in Massachusetts.

Sklut is expected to be sworn in Jan. 16.
Former Dunbarton Police Chief Christopher Connelly retired Nov. 30, 2011, and a search committee was formed to review applications.Â
"He was very personable in the interview and has had a great career," Dunbarton Town Manager Line Comeau said. "We're looking forward to having him as our new police chief."
Dunbarton has a population of 2,758 and is located west of Manchester and south of Concord.
