Beetles Found on Ireta Road

Ireta Road will lose about 90 percent of its trees.

The Asian long-horned beetles are at it again—this time in Shrewsbury.

According to the telegram.com, selectmen were told that a large chunk of trees have to be removed on Ireta Road town-owned land because of the insects. The trees will be taken this fall.

Russ Wilmont, a beetle specialist with the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, said two trees on Deer Grass Road were removed earlier in the week.
