Break-in Suspect Arrested

The police responded to a house break-in on Oak Street.

The following press release was submitted by the Shrewsbury Police Department:

On July, 25 at 1:33 p.m., a resident on Oak Street called in reporting a break-in in progress. The resident had come home to discover what appeared to be forced entry to the home and then also observed the suspect in the house. At this time the homeowner called the and several units responded. While Shrewsbury officers secured a perimeter around the house, Officer Peter Capalbo was responding and observed a man exit a yard on Sherwood Avenue near to the house in question.

Officer Capalbo stopped the man and questioned him. Officer Capalbo’s investigation found that this subject had just broken into the house. The suspect had a knapsack in his possession which contained the items stolen from the house. Items taken were jewelry, cash and other household items which were all returned to the homeowner. He was placed under arrest by the Shrewsbury Police and charged.

The following people were arrested:

Stephan Trevor Norton, 30, of 7 Stone Ave., Shrewsbury, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering daytime for a felony, larceny over $250, defacing or damaging property.

Also involved in the arrest were Sgt. Ronald Benoit, Officer Scott Mentzer, Officer Richard Fiske, Detective Paul Brown. The suspect was held at the Shrewsbury Police and taken to Westboro District Court in the morning.
