Don't Swim in Lake Quinsigamond
The lake is off limits to swimmers and bathers south of the Route 9 bridge due to a sewer overflow.

The following press release was submitted by the Shrewsbury Health Department:
Due to a sanitary sewer overflow in the vicinity of 83 Lake Ave., the city of Worcester Division of Public Health is advising the public to not swim, bathe or fish in the area south of the Rt. 9 Bridge to Anna Street on the Worcester side of Lake Quinsigamond.
To protect the public’s health and the environment, public health officials are advising area residents not to utilize this section of Lake Quinsigamond for recreational purposes until further notice.

Additionally, as a precautionary measure the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation has posted the beaches at both Regatta Point and the Lake Park State Beach as unsuitable for swimming. City and State officials will sample and continue to monitor the affected area and notify the public when the advisory has been lifted.
