Fire Potential Elevated in the Area; Conditions "Near Perfect" for Forest Fire

The National Weather Service has announced a hazardous weather alert that includes an elevated fire weather potential.

Due to strong northerly winds, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outloook that includes an elevated fire weather potential with an even higher potential on Tuesday, in Central Massachusetts, including Shrewsbury.

In addition, said the NWS, a widespread hard freeze is expected into Tuesday morning.

"It is extremely dry out there and the potential for brush and wildfires remains high," said . "The spring winds have only added to the problem, as evidenced in Douglas yesterday."
