Grand Marshal For This Year's Spirit Of Shrewsbury Announced

This year, proceeds from any of the events and sponsorships benefit three worthy local charities.

SHREWSBURY, MA—This year’s Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival Committee is busy planning the Fall Festival, which will be held Sept. 27- 30.

The Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival Committee announced that Angela Snell, Director of Shrewsbury Parks & Recreation, is this year’s Grand Marshal.

"Snell’s commitment to community through service to the Girl Scouts, the Lake Quinsigamond Lakeway Association and her work with Veterans causes including the Shrewsbury Memorial Day Parade committee, are just a few examples of how she embodies the true Spirit of Shrewsbury," said the announcement.

This year, proceeds from any of the events and sponsorships benefit three worthy local charities: St. Anne’s Human Services, Worcester County Food Bank and Shrewsbury Youth & Family Services.

Worcester Count Food Bank collection bins will be placed at the Expo and at the Taste of Shrewsbury. Please donate any of the following: cereal, oatmeal, rice, beans; Low sodium soup, stew, chili; Dry and canned pasta; Low sugar canned fruits; Ethnic foods (Hispanic, Indian, etc.;) canned tuna and chicken; Peanut butter and jelly; chicken or beef broth; Low sodium canned vegetables; healthy snacks (nuts, granola bars, etc.) Please NO glass (including baby food) and NO perishable items.

SOS Chair, Frances Carvalho is delighted to announce that this year’s newest event will be a family friendly concert featuring four bands including local favorites Dark Horse, a classic rock band and Pink Talking Fish, think a fusion of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads and Phish.

Look for the Community Pasta Dinner to benefit Shrewsbury Youth & Family Services, too.

Returning favorites include the famed Expo, Craft Fair, and Bouncy Houses. Of course, there will be a parade to close out the festival on Sunday, and so much more. Enjoy the offerings of the Food Truck vendors that will be back by popular demand too!
