Lake Quinsigamond Reopened, but Still not Safe to Swim

Even though the bacteria levels are back to normal, the Board of Health is advising no swimming or bathing.

The following press release was submitted by the Board of Health:

announced the beaches at both Regatta Point and Lake Park Beach on Lake Quinsigamond are now open.

Results from Saturday’s water quality sampling performed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation have indicated that the water quality levels at the two beaches are normal.

Additionally, the city of Worcester’s Department of Inspectional Services water sample results from the affected area continue to suggest that bacteria levels are still of a concern in the impacted area south of the Route 9 Bridge to Anna Street on the Worcester side of Lake Quinsigamond.

Public health officials still advise the public to not swim, bathe or fish in this area.
