Nearly 20,000 Trees Inspected for Asian Long-horned Beetle
Cutting, replanting and surveying is underway in Shrewsbury to prevent the spread of the Asian Longhorn Beetle.

In the month of June, Asian long-horned beetle inspectors checked nearly 20,000 trees in Shrewsbury and found that none of them were infested with the invasive species.
"USDA / DCR ground survey staff inspected more than 19,424 trees for signs of the Asian long-horned beetle during this reporting period," a report from the Department of Conservation Resources said. "ALB staff did not detect any infested trees during this period."
To compliment the search and remove procedures, plans have been developed to plant an additional 300 trees with more on the way.
