Parker Road Preschool Celebrates Reading

During the two-week read-a-thon, the students read almost 4,000 students.

Parker Road Preschool PTO hosted a literacy breakfast on Saturday, March 24 to celebrate literacy month and the completion of their two-week long Read-A-Thon.

Starting on March 4 through March 17, students were encouraged to read one book a day at home with their caregivers. The PTO set a goal of 2,840 book for the school to read as a whole. After two weeks of reading, the students far exceeded the PTO's goal by reading nearly 4,000 books.

"Exposure to books and being read to, beginning in infancy, have been strongly correlated with later school success," said Lisa Robinson, Parker Road Preschool's Director. "It was so great to see the enthusiasm from all the families wanting to participate."
