The Shrewsbury Education Foundation (SEF) recently donated $1,000 to the Playground Rebuilding Project to help ensure that some of the new equipment could be ordered now so kids could be playing outside in the spring.
"This was not part of the SEF grant program in which teachers apply for the grant monies using a formula which helps determine which will be funded," Shrewsbury Education Foundation Co-President Melisa Hollenback. "Paton sent a letter to SEF explaining how close there were to their goal but still needed about $10,000. SEF experienced a very odd year in which we found ourselves under our annual grant budget."
Chris Juetten, the other SEF Co-Pres, and Hollenback decided to donate $1,000 to Paton, if the SEF members voted and approved the proposal.

The Shrewsbury Education Foundation's mission is to focus on the whole child and that includes items often not funded by the school budget, such as the arts, and in this case a playground.
