A family was reunited with its cat Princess after it went missing since Friday.

This one has a happy ending for pet owners.

On Friday, a Shrewsbury Patch reader asked how to get the word out about a lost cat. .

"We were not too worried at first she has disappeared for a few days before," said Lynn De Smet, owner of Princess. "When Monday morning rolled around I started to worry. Everyday that went by, I felt like hope was fading. . She said she would keep an eye out for her."

De Smet then put up a couple of lost posters with her picture.

"It's funny because I was sitting in the office and I could see my neighbor's sons talking to their mom and pointing to the end of the street. I knew something was up and 2 seconds later the phone rings," she said. "Somehow my cat got into their basement. They were away and just got home."

Princess was returned home earlier on Monday.

"She is home now with a can of tuna and all the temptations treats she can handle. It is a very good day," De Smet said.

De Smet has owned Princess since 2008. She started fostering for a local animal shelter and she was one of five kittens the De Smets took in.

"She was the runt and I bottle fed her to help her grow," De Smet said. "There was something about her and I had to adopt her. At that time her name was Nero."

So, how did she get the name Princess?

"She had a fall when she was very young and we thought we lost her," De Smet said. "I swore that if she would live I would treat her like a Princess for the rest of her life. And I have. She is the Princess of my heart."
