Selectmen Candidate Backs Out of Race
Shrewsbury Resident Bob Abrahams pulled papers, but will not be able to run in May.

A staunch opponent to the current , Shrewsbury resident Bob Abrahams had pulled papers to run against incumbent Selectman James Kane.
"I really wanted to shake things up," Abrahams said. "I really think the town needs a change."
Abrahams is part of the group Shrewsbury for Responsible Taxation and credits his group for the downfall of the vote to expand the current Shrewsbury Public Library.

"The project is too big and expensive," Abrahams said. "This town is not made up of yuppies. Most of us are working class and at some point, the spending has to stop."
Abrahams also hosts a talk show on and has lived in town most of his life.

"I had to drop out of the race because I have to do another round of cancer treatments," he said. "But the selectmen pulled me aside and said they didn't want me to run."
No other candidates have submitted papers for the May election, though former Selectman Ben Tartaglia and Shrewsbury Resident Victor Zolotarevsky have pulled nomination papers. Tartaglia lost the last election to Henry Fitzgerald.
Nomination papers are due on March 13.
