Shrewsbury Native Maryann Perry Elected to Marblehead Y Board of Directors

New Board Member Announcement from Marblehead Y

Marblehead Public Schools’ (MPS) Superintendent and Shrewsbury native Maryann Perry was recently elected to the all-volunteer Lynch/van Otterloo Y (Marblehead) board of directors, announced Board President Jeanne Lambkin.

“I am gratified and excited that Maryann is willing to join our volunteer leadership team,” said Lambkin. “Her management role will bring our board vital expertise and valuable perspectives. The pace of change confronting our children requires us to routinely rethink what we offer to, and how we partner with educators to promote youth development. Our schools are crucial resources for developing our children and our communities. Maryann’s keen understanding of urgent and important needs will help us prioritize our efforts and improve our impact.”

Perry, with 35 years of experience as a public school teacher and administrator, leads a school district with over 600 faculty and staff, and over 3,000 students across one high school, a 7-8-grade middle school, a 4-6 grade school, and three K-3 elementary schools. Superintendent since 2013, she oversees a $34.8-million budget, all curriculum initiatives and operations, and supervises 15 administrators who have been instrumental in continuing to enhance the district's performance. During her tenure, she has created a district strategic plan, curriculum renewal protocol, and enhanced communication within the Marblehead community.
