Shrewsbury Woman Plays Principal Role in Broadway Musical

A Shrewsbury actress landed a big role on Broadway.

SHREWSBURY, MA—A Shrewsbury actress took over one of the primary roles in a hit Broadway musical last month, after being part of the show as a member of the ensemble.

Catherine Brunell, a Shrewsbury native, plays Portia in the hit musical comedy "Something Rotten," playing at Broadway's St. James Theatre, reports Richard Duckett inthe Worcester Telegram and Gazette.

Set in England in 1595, "Something Rotten" revolves around playwrights Nick and Nigel Bottom, who can't seem to land a hit because William Shakespeare corners the market.
