Shrewsbury's Memorial Day Parade And Plans For 2018

SHREWSBURY, MA—The annual Memorial Day Parade takes place on Monday, May 28, kicking off from the steps of the Town Hall at 9:30 a.m.

Shortly before the parade kicks off, at 9:20 a.m. at the police station, there is a soldier's salute, with welcome address by John Travers, Ray Stone Post, master of ceremonies. Jessica Peng from the Shrewsbury High Speech and Debate Team delivers the Gettysburg Address.

The parade then kicks off from the Town Hall and continues to the center of town for the Memorial Day address and then concludes at Mountain View Cemetery.

This year's featured speaker is Commander Jamie Godwin, who earned his commission through the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He first served as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard USS Peoria and USS Russell, a guided missile AEGIS destroyer, both in the Pacific Fleet.
