Several of the DCR's most popular inland and ocean beach locations will also have lifeguards on duty.

In advance of Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of the summer season, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) on Thursday announced that many of the agency’s waterfronts and spray decks open across the Commonwealth starting on Saturday, May 26.

Several of the DCR’s most popular inland and ocean beach locations will also have lifeguards on duty weekends only, said the announcement from the state.

“The Commonwealth’s state parks system remains a popular destination for Massachusetts residents and visitors, offering excellent outdoor recreational opportunities for people of all abilities to enjoy,” said DCR Commissioner Leo Roy in a statement. “The Baker-Polito Administration is committed to providing exceptional access to our state’s natural resources, including some of the most popular beaches, and we look forward to seeing thousands of people this Memorial Day Weekend.”
