Stop & Shop Delivers 1,000 Turkeys to Worcester County Food Bank

Photo: As part of its Turkey Express program, Stop & Shop store managers kick off the holiday giving season on Friday, Oct. 31 with the delivery of 1,000 turkeys to the Worcester Country Food Bank in Shrewsbury. For 100 years, Stop & Shop has been committed to sharing meals and giving thanks to the communities it serves, and this year will donate more than 21,000 turkeys to hunger relief organizations and families throughout the Northeast between now and Thanksgiving.

Stop & Shop’s Turkey Express trucks deliver 1,000 turkeys to the Worcester County Food Bank in Shrewsbury in time for Thanksgiving. The delivery is one of eight stops on Stop & Shop’s Turkey Express route throughout New England and one of 16 across the Northeast. As it celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, Stop & Shop is renewing its commitment to making a positive difference in customers’ lives every day with programs like Turkey Express that help share meals and give thanks to the communities and families it serves.

According to the Worcester County Food Bank, 12% of people in Worcester county are impacted by hunger and food insecurity and receive assistance from the food bank’s network. Within Massachusetts there is a high demand for donations to local food banks and Stop & Shop’s donation to the Worcester County Food Bank is more important than ever to help local families in need.

This November, Stop & Shop will donate more than 21,000 turkeys to local food banks throughout the Northeast with its Turkey Express program.

The Turkey Express truck arrives on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Worcester County Food Bank.
