Sunshine Week: Town Salaries Revealed

This week, we wanted to shed some light on the town government and see how transparent they are when it comes to public information.

. It is a national initiative to promote a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information. Participants include news media, civic groups, libraries, nonprofits, schools and others interested in the public's right to know, according to their website.

We asked to give us copies of town employees' salaries. The information was not available in the printed, annual town report available at the town clerk's office, as that includes department budgets, but not specific salaries.

"I like to hide things in plain sight," said Morgado of the information. "It is available on our town website."

A sampling of town employee salaries include:

Police Chief: $129,788

Fire Chief: $100,039

Library Director: $92,074

Town Manager: $130,525
