Jason Palitsch, a town meeting member and former aide to State Sen. Michael Moore, has announced he will run for School Committee in the May 1, 2012 annual town election.
“I am running for School Committee because my education in and my service in the state house combine to bring a unique perspective to the committee,” said Palitsch in a press release. “I had the privilege of receiving an outstanding education in Shrewsbury schools that prepared me well for college and beyond. I see that quality education under threat for today's Shrewsbury students, and these financially volatile times require diverse perspectives among School Committee members.”
Palitsch has served as an elected town meeting member from Precinct 9 since 2009. Palitsch is also a board member of the Shrewsbury Education Foundation, the Shrewsbury League of Women Voters, and the Friends of the Worcester Area RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program). Palitsch attended Shrewsbury Public Schools K-12, graduating from Shrewsbury High School in 2007. He holds a BA in political science with a concentration in public policy from Northeastern University.

“Having served as a town meeting member and as an aide to our state senator, I have the experience, appreciation for the intricacies of the budgeting process, and relationships within the community necessary to be an effective voice on the School Committee. Our school department continues to provide excellent services despite severe financial constraints, and given the increasing financial challenges, it has never been more important to have leadership on the School Committee that is dedicated to serving all of Shrewsbury's students,” he said.
For three years he worked as an aide to State Sen. Michael O. Moore, who represents Shrewsbury and six other Worcester County communities in the Massachusetts Senate. He is currently a project assistant at ENVIRON International Corporation, an environmental consulting firm.
