In the past, the Westboro Gallery has recognized a senior interested in art at Westboro High School by awarding him or her a show at the gallery in June. Starting in 2009, the group extended the invitation to also include the towns surrounding Westboro: Grafton, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Northborough, Shrewsbury, Southborough, and Upton.
The exhibit is awarded in honor of the founder of the Westboro Gallery, Therese M. Bacharz. "It is our goal to recognize a talented young artist, give him or her the experience of hanging a show in a gallery, and exhibiting and selling artwork alongside professional artists," Fox said.
In order to apply for the Therese M. Bacharz Student Exhibit, seniors must fill out the attached form and submit photographs of eight pieces of artwork on a CD. These eight pieces should be representative of the type of work that would be hung in the show, if awarded to that student. The students also submitted an artist statement and a teacher recommendation.
