West Nile Virus Found in Shrewsbury Mosquito
West Nile Virus led to the canceling of some evening activities across the region last year.

During testing samples taken on Aug. 9 at least one mosquito carrying the West Nile virus was found in town.
Shrewsbury is the only town in Worcester County with West Nile Virus showing up so far, although most surrounding towns had positive tests for the virus last year.
Extra spraying will take place in northeast corner of town on Aug. 20 with a rain date of Aug. 21 to help diminish the mosquito population in the area.
