When I got my license at 16, I was lucky enough to have use of a car because my brother was at college.
Thankfully it wasn't the family Chevy station wagon, but it was a Chevrolet, though it had a bit more street cred. It was a Chevy Nova.
Yes, Chevrolet made a car in 1973, the year before I was born, that means "no go" in Spanish. Only in America.

The green Nova had quite a history. Before I was born, my parents bought the car, though I have fond memories of being stuck on the floor of that car, crammed into the back seat during my mother's 'carpool' for my brother when we took him and his friends to school.
That was before car seats, required seat belts and any restraints for kids in cars. I don't know how we survived, but I thought it was funny that my brother painted it black when he was a teenager and that was the car that I got to drive, 16 years later.

Times have changed a bit as AAA has released a list of Top Teen Cars. Safety was a number one choice as the top cars were Volkswagen Rabbit/Golf, the Ford Focus and the Honda Civic.
Like teens of this generation, my first car was a Volkswagen Jetta, used and I bought it when I was out of college. The funny part of that "ride" was that when I looked at it (in the dark), I thought it was a dark blue, but in reality, in the sunlight it was a deep purple. Now, I make a point of seeing a car in the daylight before I buy it.
What was your first car? Did you drive the family car like I did or did you drive a cooler ride? Let us know in the comments and if you have a photo, upload it!
