Wrong Way Driver Causes Two-Car Crash on Route 9

Three were injured and taken to the hospital with injuries.

are investigating a crash on Route 9 that took place on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10:51 p.m., where a two-car head-on collision occurred.

Minutes before the crash, police received multiple 911 calls reporting a wrong-way driver in the area of Route 9 west near the 600 block.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that Sharon Henderson, 58, of Westborough was operating a Buick sedan in the wrong direction, traveling on Route 9 east, east of Route 140, in the westbound lane.

As she crested a hill traveling in the opposite direction, she struck a Honda sedan head on. The driver of the Honda, Leonardo Dasilveira, 19, of Framingham suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, and the driver of the Buick suffered minor injury.

All three were transported by UMass EMS Paramedics to UMass Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester.

Route 9 west was shut down in this area for approximately one hour while police investigated at the scene and removed the vehicles from the roadway.

The accident remains under investigation by Shrewsbury Police Officer Sean Maynard and Officer Richard Fiske of the Shrewsbury Police Traffic/Crash Reconstruction Unit.
