Boston to Host Edgar Allen Poe Walking Tour, Statue Unveiling This Weekend

Literature and history buffs in the Boston area are in for a treat this weekend.

The Edgar Allan Poe Foundation of Boston will hold special 90-minute walking tour on Saturday to explore the famed author’s connections to the city, including his birth in Boston to his return in 1827, among other connections.

“The Raven’s Trail: A Walking Tour of Poe’s Boston” is set to kick off at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, beginning at 78 Charles St. South in front of the Milner Hotel. The tour is open to the public and free of charge, and is to be held in celebration of sculptor Stefanie Rocknak’s new statue, “Poe Returning to Boston,” according to the Edgar Allen Poe Foundation of Boston.

An unveiling of the statue itself will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at Edgar Allen Poe Square at the intersection of Boylston and Charles Street South, and will include appearances by Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and former U.S. poet laureate Robert Pinsky, according to the Edgar Allen Poe Foundation of Boston.
