Boston Symphony Orchestra Score Returns From Outer Space

Astronaut Stephanie Wilson took a page of the BSO score on a 2007 space mission.

Last week, Astronaut Stephanie Wilson of Pittsfield stopped by Symphony Hall to present BSO Managing Director Mark Volpe with a page from the orchestra’s conducting score of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” that she took with her during a 15-day Space Shuttle mission in 2007. Members of the orchestra and Maestro James Levine signed the score in 2007 before giving it to Wilson to take into space.

5. Mt. Washington Bank is seeking applicants for its community scholarship: up to $15,000 in total awards will be distributed to college university students, tuition high school students and adult learners pursuing job training/development courses. Students who reside in or attend school in Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, South Boston, the South End and West Roxbury are invited to apply - applications are available at all bank branches and at the and are due by May 27.
