Five Things: Flowers for a Cause

Winston Flowers is donating a portion of its September sales to Children's Hospital Boston.

1. Mostly sunny skies today with slightly cooler temps - highs in the upper 70s and a mild breeze.

2. Starting today and lasting through the month of September, Winston Flowers is donating 20 percent of its sales of "Charity in Bloom" floral arrangements to Children's Hospital Boston. The arrangement (pictured above) is available in four different price points from $65 - $225 and is inspired by the warmth of a late summer sunset. The dahlias and foliage are from a local family farm, which Winston Flowers has worked with for more than forty years.

3. The Music of First Church Boston presents mid-day recitals, every Thursday from 12:15 - 12:45 p.m., from Sept. 15 - May 24, 2012. This is happening for the second year in a row. All concerts are free and open to the public, but donations are accepted and encouraged.

"Naughty English: Bad Words & Impolite Idioms" will teach moderate to advanced-level English speakers new ways to express themselves. The two-part classes will be Sept. 15 and Oct. 6. The cost is $50 and registration is necessary. Visit www.bcae.org or call the center at 617-267-4430 to sign up.
