Five Things: Holiday Cards for a Cause

Student artists at the Perkins School for the Blind have created holiday cards to sell to the Boston community.

Today is Tuesday, November 29. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. Partly sunny this morning with clouds moving in this afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s.

2. This holiday season, South End residents can purchase holiday cards created by students at the Perkins School for the Blind. The Watertown-based school is offering eight different cards created by youngsters who attend Perkins. All the student artists are blind, and some have other disabilities such as deafness. Packs of 10 are $10, and procceeds go to fund Perkins programs and services that help infants, children and adults who struggle with visual impairment. Click here to purchase.

4. The Friends of Ringgold Park are gauging community interest in holding a wintertime community event in the newly renovated park. Tentative plans are for a "holiday sing" with a professional musician to accompany residents, hot cocoa and holiday treats. Email ringgoldpark@verizon.net if you would be interested in attending such an event.
