Five Things: Police Searching For Hit-and-Run Driver
Victim remains in critical condition following weekend accident.
1. Another rainy day today, with highs in the mid 60s and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Winds 5 to 10 mph.
2. Police are asking for the public's help identifying a hit-and-run driver who mowed down 23-year-old Salem Amanuel near the intersection of Mass Ave. and Shirley Street in Roxbury around 3 a.m. on Saturday. Amanuel remains in critical condition after she was struck by a car described as a "gray/silver Chevy Impala with sun roof, tinted windows and a spoiler on the rear of the vehicle."
Detectives believe that the vehicle may have sustained damage to the front end passenger side or passenger side mirror. Anyone with information if urged to call (617) 343-6430.

3. The Blackstone/Frankin Square Neighborhood Association is hosting a neighborhood social at tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. Head over to the tapas restaurant for appetizers, a cash bar and good conversation.
4. The Department of Public Works is holding a Hazardous Disposal Day on Saturday in West Roxbury. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., bring any hazardous waste items (paint, car batteries, tires, etc.) to the West Roxbury Public Works Yard at 315 Gardner Street (behind Home Depot). 5. The Union Park Neighborhood Association has hired a company to trap and relocate raccoons that are "prowling the neighborhood." Up to four traps will be set on Monday, June 27. Residents of the Union Park area who have seen raccoons in their yard and would like traps placed there should send an email to info@upna.org.
