Five Things: South End Co-op Workspace Opening on Columbus Ave.
Former Lucy Parsons Center is being converted into a workspace for artists and creatives.

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 21. Here are five things you need to know today:
1. Mostly sunny today with highs in the lower 70s. Southwest winds around 5 mph.
2. The on Columbus Avenue will soon be home to a cooperative workspace for artists and other creative types. The coop, which officially opens on Thursday, is still looking for tenants that support its mission of "social justice activism, creative collaboration, and the sustainability of values driven businesses." Four businesses have already signed up including the graphic design company Golden Arrows. Email CreativeCoopSpace@gmail.com or stop by this Thursday for more information.

3. Join Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción this Saturday for lots of fun and free activities at the Educational Family Fair. Stop by Plaza Betances at 100 West Dedham Street between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for clowns, face painting and storytelling as well as workshops on oral health and other resources for early childhood development. Parents who participate in two workshops will be entered into a gift certificat raffle. For more info call (617) 927-1707.
4. If you're a teenager working on your college applications, consider stopping by the Boston Public Library for some help this afternoon. The main library in Copley Square is holding a college application essay workshop today from 4:30-5 p.m. It's free, unlike a college education.
