Five Things: Washington Gateway Announces New Board Members

Three new officers elected during June board meeting.

2. Washington Gateway Main Streets elected three new officers to its Board of Directors at a June meeting. The new officers are Marc LaCasse, President; Craig Nicholson, Vice President and Michael Semizoglou, Treasurer. All were unanimously selected.

3. If you live near the Tremont Street end of West Newton Street, you might want to plan a day trip. Repair work on underground steam pipes near the intersection will commence today with earsplitting noise from jackhammers and a vacuum excavator truck. For more details on the work, click .

4. Beginning this month, the Boston Center for Adult Education will be offering educational walking tours of Boston neighborhoods, including the South End. This Sunday, embark on a tour of the neighborhood with Instructor Edward Gordon and receive a free appetizer from a local restaurant. The tour costs $20 and focuses on the topographical and architectural development of the area. (Cost of full meal is not included in the tour, which runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) Click here for more info.

5. Tonight, the will be celebrating “La Fête nationale du Québec” or “Quebec National Day,” a journey of exploration in traditional Quebec food and music. Stop by starting at 5:30 p.m. for a special menu and featured cocktails, and stay for live music by neo-folk group Nicolas Pellerin et Les Grands Hurleurs at 8 p.m.
