Five Things You Need to Know Today, April 21

Bike meeting, tax info and discount on adult education classes.

Today is Thursday, April 21. Here are five things you need to know:

1. The sun is expected to return today, along with highs in the upper 50s. Winds are picking up, expect gusts up to 40 mph and breezes 20-30 mph.

2. With the tax deadline just passed, want to know where your money's going? Courtesy of U.S. Rep. Mike Capuano's office, here's a handy "Federal tax receipt" calculator from the White House. Plug in your data and see a breakdown of what those tax dollars buy (hint: mostly national defense).

3. Starting this week through Sunday, May 1 take 25 percent off all May and June classes at the Boston Center for Adult EducationJust enter the discount code MAYJUN11 when you sign up for any one of their courses, including cupcake decorating, comic book art and wedding dance lessons. 4. There's big news bubbling up today from Boston Bikes, the city's official bike department. They're hosting a press event with the mayor from 1:30-2 p.m. Why should you go? They'll be giving away free burritos (from Boloco) to anyone who shows up at City Hall Plaza with their bike. You'll get to hear the announcement while you're downing your free lunch. The email I got from Nicole Freedman, the city's bike czar, also promises live music.
