Hearing Date Set for East Berkeley Street Name Change
Hearing will focus on city's name-change policy, future of East Berkeley Street name.

1. Cloudy skies and a chance of rain today with cooler temperatures in the upper 50s. Forecasts are calling for a breezy day - wind gusts could reach 35 mph.
2. A public hearing on the Dover/East Berkeley Street name change will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium, City Council Bill Linehan's office announced. The purpose of the hearing will be resolve "any discrepancies" in the city's policy for street name-changes and to facilitate an open discussion on reclaiming the Dover Street name for the thoroughfare, currently known as East Berkeley Street. 3. After two decades in the South End, City Dry Cleaning will be closing its doors. Stop by the Tremont Street shop (which, we're told, will soon be home to West Springfield Street's W Salon) for store-closing deals on gently used clothing and accessories.

4. South End Baseball held its Opening Day ceremony on Saturday with much fanfare. Some highlights: newly elected Councilor Tito Jackson throwing out one of a few first pitches and the sea of Red Sox caps parading through the neighborhood. We'll have photos up later this morning.
5. The Boston Public Library is commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War with special exhibitions, lectures and programs. The library kicked off its eight-month, city-wide commemoration on Monday and will be unveiling four new exhibits at the main library in Copley Square including Torn in Two: The 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, a collection of 50 historic maps interwoven with paintings, photographs, prints and diaries.
