Heroin Bust In South End: Boston Police

Overnight police arrested two men and charged them in connection with possession and intention to distribute heroin.

SOUTH END, MA — Overnight police arrested two men they said intended to distrubute heroin as part of an ongoing drug investigation near Mass Ave and Albany Street.

At about 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, Citywide Drug Control Unit officers arrested two men as part of what police are calling a continued efforts to reduce drugs on the streets of Boston, officers arrested Jhonny Gonzalez, 33-years-old, of Boston and Josue Cotto, 39-years-old, of Boston.

Gonzalez is charged with possession with intent to distribute class A drugs, distribution of class A drugs, and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Cotto is charged with distribution of class A drugs and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Gonzalez also had multiple warrants for charges including for trafficking 200 grams of class A drugs, trafficking cocaine, and distribution of class A drugs.

Both are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.

Class A drugs include heroin and is considered to contain the most dangerous drugs and carries the most serious penalties. The law regarding possession with intent to distribute heroin or any other Class A drug is found in M. G. L. c. 94C s. 32. The law provides that any person who knowingly or intentionally manufactures, distributes, dispenses or possesses heroin with the intent to manufacture, distribute or dispense can face up to 10 years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine for the first offense.
