Mayor Walsh To Be At South End's Ramsay Park Official Reopening
After two years, the renovation of Ramsay Park is finished.

SOUTH END, MA — It's been a while, but the renovation over at Ramsay Park including play lot, basketball courts, tennis courts, plazas, passive areas, and lighting is finished. And Friday there's a grand opening to prove it.
Mayor Marty Walsh is scheduled be at Ramsay Park's official re opening around 11 a.m. at 1917 Washington St., too. Walsh announced that the city would be investing $1 million in the underutilized but centrally located park during his second State of the City speech in 2015. In that speech he highlighted the importance of parks and committed to completely renovating Ramsay Park in an effort to make it a safer, more used space.
“I grew up in our parks. I know how much kids and families depend on them. So I was moved when a group of young people came to see me at Ramsay Park in the South End last summer. They told me what it was like to grow up right next door to a park that was too unsafe to use, and how they’ve been working to fix that," he said at the time.
The renovation project kicked off in 2016.
