Over 400 employees spent Thursday painting and cleaning the Dearborn Middle School.

About 425 employees of Fidelity Investments went back to school on Thursday to paint, landscape, refurbish and beautify a local middle school inside and out, as part of the company’s largest annual community relations day of service in Boston.

The Fidelity associates spent the day at Dearborn Middle School creating an innovative green space, building an outdoor classroom, reviving the school yard and painting classrooms, offices and hallways throughout the school.

The “Transformation Day” event was part of Fidelity’s national partnership with HandsOn Network, the volunteer activation division of Points of Light Institute and largest volunteer network in the nation, and Boston Cares, a local volunteer organization, to help revitalize the learning environments and support the educational needs of 10 middle schools across the United States.

“Fidelity’s support for Dearborn Middle School exemplifies all the best aspects of a true public/private partnership,” said Boston Public Schools Superintendent Carol R. Johnson. “The ongoing involvement of Fidelity’s employees combined with the tangible and intangible resources the company has brought to these students is a great example of how business can support education at the grassroots level.”
