Police: Teenagers Charged With B&E had Alcohol

Two males were arrested after several alleged theft attempts on Saturday night in the South End.

Two teenagers were arrested Saturday night after several alleged theft attempts in the area around the Chandler/Lawrence Street intersection, the District D4 police department reported.

Police say Marc C. Cote, 19 of Medford and Marvin M. Maurin, 19 of Revere were seen breaking into a car on Lawrence Street around 9:28 p.m. When officers approached, items from the vehicle’s glove compartment and center console were strewn about.

Both suspects "took off running" when police arrived, leading officers on a short chase after scaling a fence on Clarendon Street, according to a report.

Bystanders reportedly told police they had also seen the pair try to enter a locked business in the area and attempt to steal a bicycle from the corner of Chandler and Clarendon streets.

A search of the teenagers’ backpack revealed alcohol and a small amount of marijuana, police said. Both suspects were charged with breaking and entering a vehicle in the nighttime and being minors in possession of alcohol.
