Fire officials said the South End building that partially collapsed Wednesday night has "serious structural deficiencies."

BOSTON — Fire officials said the South End building that partially collapsed Wednesday night has "serious structural deficiencies."
The five-story building at 23 Upton St. was unoccupied when the rear fire escapes and part of the brick building itself came down. No one was injured, the Boston Fire Department said.
Five residents from adjacent buildings were evacuated.
