South End Chefs Cook for a Cure

Chefs from Myers+Chang, Union Bar and Grill and Gaslight attended the annual fundraiser.

Today is Thursday, April 14. Here are five things you need to know:

1. Good news! Warmer temperatures (reaching the low 60s) are in the forecast for today along with partly cloudy skies becoming sunny toward afternoon. Patchy fog is expected this morning along with wind gusts up to 20 mph.

2. The Blackstone/Franklin Squares Neighborhood Association is hosting a tutorial on how to build your own landless garden. This Saturday, join South End resident Laurel Valchuis for a lesson on how to grow fresh vegetables using a burlap sack and just 2 square feet of space. 3. Speaking of green...the City of Boston received $1 million in grant funding from the Governor's Green Communities Program after being designated as a "Green" community last December. The money will be used to upgrade energy management systems in city libraries and install lighting management systems for the Parks and Recreation department. In total, projects funded by the grant will save the city an estimated $235,000 in energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 800 tons.

4. Three South End eateries were represented at the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure's annual "Chefs for the Cure" event at The Viking Center in Westwood. , , and all participated in the event - check out their photos in the gallery above.
