Spin-A-Thon This Saturday at Boston Sports Club

Sign up for an hour of spinning for a $20 donation to the Jimmy Fund - open to members and non-members.

Today is Friday, April 15. Here are five things you need to know:

1. Cooler weather is on its way starting today: temperatures are expected to reach the upper 40s with sunny skies and wind gusts up to 25 mph. Warmth returns on Sunday.

2. This weekend, work out for a good cause with Boston Sports Club's Lindsay Troilo. Troilo will be offering three hour-long spinning classes at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. at BSC's South End location. Members and non-members are invited to join for a $20 donation. All donations go to the Jimmy Fund. For more information or to reserve a bike, call BSC at (617) 482-1266.

3. Want to give back but spinning's not your thing? Minds Matter, a non-profit helping kids from low-income families prepare for college, is hosting its 3rd annual Spring Soirée Gala & Fundraiser hosted by Tony V at the South End Cyclorama. Tickets start at $125 and include cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live and silent auctions, stand-up comedy from Tony V and live music and dancing. Click here for more info.

4. Are you a coffee addict looking for a job? is hiring. Stop by the cafe to apply.

5. We'll never be able to out-sing Judy Garland, but the attempts ought to be pretty entertaining. The Boston Pops is celebrating its 125th anniversary by inviting America to join in a virtual sing-a-long of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." To participate, simply post a video on YouTube of yourself, your friends or whoever singing your own version of the classic, and email the link along with contact info and geographical location to overtherainbow@bso.org

People of all ages are welcome (so tape your cute kids) and video submissions are due by April 26. Videos will be featured on the Boston Pops YouTube channel, on the Boston Pops website and at performances throughout the season.
