Stabbing at Harrison Archways Leads to Arrest

Resident charged with assaulting a woman allegedly selling him drugs.

A resident of the Cathedral apartment complex was arrested Saturday night after police say he stabbed an acquaintance over a drug deal gone bad.

Lorenzo Reid, a resident of 42 Harrison Archways, was charged with assault and battery using a dangerous weapon (a knife), and assault with intent to murder after officers allegedly found him hiding in the hall closet of his apartment shortly after 11 p.m.

Before locating Reid, officers at the scene attended to a female victim suffering from stab wounds to her lower back. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a conversation with police, Reid admitted to meeting with the victim earlier that evening and giving her $60 in cash to buy crack cocaine, a police report stated. The victim returned later that night, demanding more money, at which point a fight ensued, the report continued.

Reid retrieved a knife from his apartment and “started swinging,” he allegedly told police.

On the night of the incident, Reid smelled strongly of alcohol, as did the victim, officers reported.

Police have responded to 42 Harrison Archways several times in the past six months, most notably following the shooting of Cathedral resident Frederick Mathieson, a father of two who was shot four times in the chest in October. Mathieson, 35, died of the wounds.
