'Ted' Filming to Begin This Morning at Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe
Parking prohibited on portions of Columbus Ave.
1. Expect an overcast day today with cloudy skies and highs in the lower 60s. Winds around 15 mph.
2. Filming for the begins today in the South End, with a full day of shooting scheduled at on Columbus Ave. "No Parking" signs have been hung along portions of Columbus Ave. and any residents affected by the parking shortage should call Assistant Location Manager Kai Quinlan at (323) 360-2580 for a garage voucher. No road closures are scheduled for today's shoot.
3. celebrated May Day on Sunday with dancing and refreshments. If you missed the celebration, don't worry, we'll have photos up later this morning.

4. For the next week, cupcakes, strawberry shortcake, and other desserts will be helping in the fight against breast cancer. Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer, which runs from May 2 - 8, kicked off its 12th year with a press conference held at the Boston Center for Adult Education on Monday morning. All proceeds from desserts sold at over 275 Massachusetts restaurants, bakeries, cafés and chocolate shops (including the South End's ) will benefit breast cancer research and care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. 4. Mayor Menino will welcome back Boston's most graceful residents this morning at the 23rd annual Return of the Swans. Romeo and Juliet, who reside at the Franklin Park Zoo during the winter, will return to the Public Garden Lagoon for the warmer months. Join Menino and Parks Commissioner Antonia Pollak at 11:45 a.m. for a special welcoming ceremony.

5. Looking for something to do tonight? The Boston Public Library is hosting a free screening of the movie/musical Once, an Irish film featuring musicians Glen Hansard (of popular Irish rock band The Frames) and Markéta Irglová. Set in Dublin, the film won Oscars for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Picutres, and Best Original Song (and it happens to be one of this local editor's favorite films).
