Tito Jackson Announces Bid for District 7 City Council Seat
Dorchester Democrat would fill Chuck Turner's vacant District 7 seat.

Dorchester native Tito Jackson has officially announced his candidacy for the Boston City Council's District 7 seat, promising to promote job creation and affordable housing opportunities if elected.
"Everyday as I drive through this district, I see obstacles and opportunities everywhere," Jackson said in a press release. "My candidacy is about maximizing the opportunities and overcoming the obstacles. With your help and partnership we will move District 7 forward."
If elected, Jackson would represent Dorchester, Roxbury and parts of the Fenway, South End and Jamaica Plain.

A former community organizer, Jackson recently served as a political director on Governor Deval Patrick's re-election campaign. He's also worked as an industry director in the state's Office of Business Development.
Jackson is the first candidate to announce a campaign for the District 7 seat, which was vacated by Chuck Turner earlier this month after he was by a federal court jury of accepting a $1,000 bribe. Turner's colleagues from the council beginning Dec. 3.

A preliminary election to replace Turner will be held Tuesday, February 15, with the final election on March 15.
This will be Jackson's second campaign for city council. He was defeated in his run for an at-large seat in 2009.
