Life Sentence for South End Murder
It's a grisly story. Eighteen year-old Richardo Arias, out on a one-day pass from the Department of Youth Services to catch a Red Sox game at Fenway Park, instead drove to the Villa Victoria housing development in the South End and shot 18-year-old Alex Sierra, whom he believed to be in a rival gang. Arias was charged for first-degree murder and sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.Picnic in Hayes Park
The Friends of Hayes Park invite you to a summer picnic in the park on Wednesday night from 6-7:30 p.m.– a great time to enjoy to enjoy the park and meet and mingle with friends and neighbors. They will provide hot dogs and hamburgers - please feel free to bring a dish or beverage to share. Musical entertainment for the kids will be provided by Wayne Potash and his Music Fun Band. Although there have been no human cases yet, and no cases in the South End, mosquito pools tested positive for West Nile Virus in Jamaica Plain last week. All the more reason to wear long sleeves and pack your bug spray. Last year there were four confirmed cases of the virus in Boston.Calling All Sports Fans
