5 Ways for Waltham Families to Beat the Heat
How does your family stay cool when temps hit 90? Let us know in the comments!
Waltham, MA - Summer is officially here, and it's bringing the heat.
Here are the best resources we've found for you and your kids to cool off. You can find spots in your neighborhood through the links below.
1. Cooling Centers and Pools
Hit up Connors Memorial Pool this week for a respite from the scorching temperatures. The pool is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. And the best part - entry is free! Connors Memorial Pool is located at 330 River St. in Waltham.

The City of Waltham offers a number of spray parks to cool off in the summer heat. Parks are open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week and 12 to 5 p.m. on the weekends. Click here for the full list of spray parks to find one closest to you.

3. Catch a Movie
It's dark, it's air-conditioned, and you can pretend the high temps outdoors aren't even happening. Assuming the nights get cool enough, there are outdoor movie screenings at the Lyman Estate. A guide to those can be found here..
4. Go Ice Skating in the Summer
We love this one. Though free skating at Veterans Memorial Rink and The Fessenden School in nearby West Newton is closed for the season, the rink at Fessenden is available to rent starting in late July. For more details, click here.
5. Check Out a Book (and stay awhile!)
Waltham Public Library offers books in the comfort of air-conditioning. What better way to cool the kids off? If a good book isn't enough, you should also know that many libraries are prime spots for Pokemon Go!
