WALTHAM, MA β€” Each year on all Hallow's Eve ghosts, goblins, dinosaurs and robots and princesses take over Waltham and promise to be good if only they're paid off with some sweet stuff. But where's the best spot to go? And will the city move Halloween to Friday, instead?

The weather first: Mary Poppins with her umbrella, that Morton Salt girl with the golashes or Christopher Robin in his yellow rain coat are starting to look pretty good about now for costumes: The forecast for this Thursday is a wet one, featuring "widespread rain and potential for strong winds," according to the National Weather Service.

Unlike winter storms and the question of school snow days, there's no one at Waltham City Hall who makes a call about Halloween when the weather is bad, according to the mayor.

Now about the best streets to hit up? We put that question to Waltham Patch Facebook fans, and they had some pretty strong opinions on this (ahem) serious matter.

Warrendale was the most popular neighborhood, by far.

Some streets mentioned? Wamsutta Ave, Cedarwood, and Lakeview. Folks also mentioned the Bleachery.

Last year folks also gave shout outs to Bringham Road, and Morton Street near Brandeis.

Waltham resident Kristen McCarthy Walsh indicated last year that Charlotte Road might be the, um, sweet spot. And then she ran out of bags of candy.

"We already go thru 15 - 20 bags of candy a year," she posted. In 2017 she got 15 bags and ran out by 8 p.m. she said. No word on how fast she ran out last year.
