WALTHAM, MA β€” A car slammed into a house Saturday evening, according to a neighbor, as a powerful coastal storm swept across the city bringing with it winds of up to 38 miles per hour and wet snow.

Jessica Lucci, who was across the street when the car slid off the road and into the yard, said the car missed trees and poles and hit the house but no one was injured.

Much of the day the city dealt with flooding, but as the temperature dropped the roads got icy after 4 p.m. drivers saw slick roads. Police and fire scanner radio chatter around that time indicated that someone reported a downed utility wire on Lexington Street was blocking the northbound lane into Newton. Two poles were also reportedly down on Main Street. But only 19 people were without power, according to Eversource. Earlier in the day a car slid of Interstate 95 and flipped over.
