See the official proclamation from Mayor McCarthy here. Juneteenth, also referred to as "Freedom Day", commemorates the abolition of slavery on June 19, 1865. In honor of this significant celebration, the Juneteenth holiday will be observed in Waltham on Friday, June 18th. All city offices and the Waltham Public Library will be closed. Waltham Public Schools will remain open for their last day of school.
