Cultural Appreciation Week In Waltham

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Embracing & Celebrating Our Cultural Differences

Waltham government acknowledged Cultural Appreciation Week with an all encompassing artistic celebration. Paintings, group exhibits, and an all-inclusive event emphasized Waltham’s diversity with poignant joy.

β€œA Journey of a Thousand Miles” exhibit by Martires Fuentes was the epicentre of the week. The artist says his series of colourful portraits, β€œcelebrates all the people from different cultural backgrounds I have had the honor of knowing over the years since I came to this country.”

Also on exhibit for this celebration was a collection of art created by local students and educators. Their personal artwork linked together people of different cultures in looping handshakes of respect and friendship. This demonstrated the uniqueness each of us has from our family and individual heritage, and the shared community we create together.
