Summer is a reader's blessed season. Longer daylight hours to lounge by Connors Memorial swimming pool, shady benches on the Waltham Common, al fresco river views at Brelundi; Waltham's book lovers do not have to go far to find a reading nook. Now, they don't have to worry about parking at the Waltham Public Library.

Beginning immediately upon this publication, the City of Waltham Department of Traffic Engineering is waiving the normal parking fees for the Waltham Public Library. If you need to return a book, it will no longer cost you a quarter to park. Attending book clubs will no longer require the dollar parking fee.

As long as you do not park for more than two hours, you can wander the stacks, participate in lectures, join clubs, utilize technology, enroll in classes, and soak up some air conditioning.

For visits more than two hours, the Department of Traffic Engineering suggests parking in the Common Street Garage. Cars parked for longer than two hours at the library may be ticketed.

Sometimes, our city really gets it. This time, the Department of Traffic Engineering is serving the community and helping the library to serve also. Isn't it wonderful when we all work together?
