Before I get to my big juicy news, let me share with you the super cool events that went on this past week. As always, it is a blast to meet readers of Waltham Patch and share the experience!
While many establishments were rained out from the torrential rain on Tuesday, Arts at the Armory sponsored First and Last Word Poetry. It takes courage to read out loud, and these poets proved their bravery.

Thursday, the Waltham Public Library book club discussed James Baldwin's "The Evidence of Things Not Seen." I am reviewing it for Lucci's List, which will be published next week.

Belmont Books hosted the Writer's Craft Series: On the Dark Side: YA Authors Talk Craft. This series has provided a tremendous opportunity for local writers of all genres to learn from the best. On this particular evening, Lygia Day PeΓ±aflor and local authors Kim Savage and Holly Black shared their insights on the creepier scenarios in YA books. And I had a total fan-girl moment meeting Holly Black (remember "The Spiderwick Chronicles?")!

Okay, onto a new week. Almost at the super juicy part.

Monday at the Waltham Public Library, the Initiating Inspiration Book Club will discuss "Daring Greatly" by Breen Brown from 7:15-8:45.
Tuesday, Belmont Books is providing Crime Fiction Authors in Conversation from 7-9PM.
Wednesday is an event I just can't miss. You know the "Make Way for Ducklings" sculptures on Boston Common? The sculptor, Nancy Schon, is from Newton, and the Newton Free Library is throwing her a 90th birthday bash! Everyone is invited to come wish her a happy birthday. There will be a children's craft table, refreshments, and fun surprises for Nancy. The celebration will be held from 4-5PM outside the library by other sculptures Nancy Schon has created and donated to the library.
Okay, now the big, juicy, tasty, local literary news. (Ahem).

As a Waltham author writing about Waltham, I am pleased to invite you to this multi-media event sponsored by this friendly group of people devoted to Waltham.
